Today, worship is bringing God our best. The woman didn't offer Jesus a little bit of the perfumeâshe offered Him all of it. She broke open the jar and poured it out because He was all she desired.
As we worship, ask yourself: What is my alabaster jar? My plans? My possessions? My comfort? My security? My money? Then simply tell God: "You are first in my heart." Jesus gave His best when He gave His life for us. Today we respond by bringing Him our best.

Joshua said, "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
Spiritual leadership isn't built in one big moment. It's built through thousands of small moments where we choose faith over passivity, courage over comfort, and presence over absence.
Ask yourself: Where is my family headed spiritually if they follow my example? What culture am I creating in my home? What am I normalizing?
God never asked fathers to be perfect priests. He asked them to be faithful ones.

Building a Firm Foundation: A Devotional for Men
One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is a strong foundation of faith. In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus teaches the importance of building our lives on solid rockâHis teachingsâto withstand the storms of life. âAnyone who listens to my teaching and obeys me is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it wonât collapse because it is built on rockâ (Matthew 7:24-25).
As men, we are called to lead our families in establishing this firm foundation. It is a responsibility that cannot be delegated solely to others. While the world offers fleeting pleasures and false promises, Godâs Word provides eternal truth and lasting hope. In 1 John 2:15-17, we are warned not to love the things of the world: âThe world and its desires will pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.â As men, we need to pour these principles into our children.
The Danger of a Weak Foundation
Reflecting on my own experience, I remember living in a home my father built. He tried a âfloating foundation,â using gravel and compacted materials instead of concrete. Though innovative, this foundation couldnât bear the stress of snow and shifting pressures, leading to cracks in the walls that constantly needed repair. Similarly, when we fail to build our childrenâs lives on the solid foundation of Godâs truth, they may struggle with cracks caused by the pressures of the world.
The lies of the world - âDo what feels rightâ or âPursue material success at all costsââcreate unstable ground. These false teachings lead to stress fractures in their faith and lives. But by rooting our families in Godâs Word, we provide them with the strength to stand firm.
How to Build a Strong Foundation
1. Teach Godâs Word: Psalm 119:11 reminds us, âI have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.â Memorize Scripture together and discuss its meaning. Help your children understand that Godâs truth is the bedrock for their lives.
2. Model Faithful Living: Children learn by observing. Let them see you turning to Godâs Word for guidance, praying for wisdom, and standing firm against the worldâs pressures.
3. Address Worldly Lies: Equip your children to discern truth from falsehood. Teach them that the worldâs desires are temporary, but Godâs promises are eternal. Help them see the difference between loving people and falling for the worldâs values.
4. Encourage Obedience: Jesus said that those who listen and obey are like the wise builder. Obedience to Godâs Word leads to a life that stands firm amidst lifeâs challenges.
A Legacy of Faith
Psalm 119:1-11 reminds us that people of integrity follow Godâs commands and seek Him with all their hearts. As fathers, letâs make it our mission to create a home where Godâs Word is the foundation. When we hide His Word in our hearts and teach it to our children, we prepare them to face the world with courage and conviction.
Letâs stand firm on the solid rock of Christ and build a legacy of faith that endures for generations. May we be men who not only hear Godâs Word but also live it out daily, showing our families what it means to trust in the unshakable foundation of His truth.

1. Build One Altar
Create one moment this week where God is prioritized.
Pray together.
Read Scripture together.
Attend church together.
Have one conversation about God.
If you don't build an altar, culture will build one for your children.
2. Pray One Prayer
Job stood in the gap for his family.
Pray specifically for your spouse, children, grandchildren, or the next generation God has placed around you.
The strongest thing a father can do is get on his knees.
3. Start One Spiritual Conversation
Replace passive faith with practiced faith.
Talk about God's goodness.
Share something God is teaching you.
Make faith natural in your home so it is caught, not just taught.
